A very clear 1/9th plate tintype of Corp. Morris Bartlett Co. H, 122nd New York Vols. who was killed in action during the battle of Peach Tree Creek, Georgia on July 20, 1864. Corp. Bartlett is shown wearing a four button regulation sack coat and kepi. The image is housed in a full leatherette case with a nicely designed brass mat, frame, and glass for preservation. A nineteenth century note on the verso of the image reads, in full: "Morris Bartlett, was shot in the war of the Rebellion in 1864". A folded ancestral note found behind the image indicates that Bartlett was born in Yates County, New York in 1840, and survived the battle of Gettysburg while his regiment was part of Slocum's 12th Corp. only to be killed a year later during Sherman's first major battle to capture Atlanta. Overall very good to near fine.
