Autograph Letter Signed, 4p. octavo, May 2, 1865, Iberia, Ohio, with cover addressed to "J.W. Brownlee Co. C 22nd Reg. Pa. Vol Calv." with excellent content pertaining to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, it reads in part: "...what terribly thrilling scenes of has been enacted on the stage of life. A nations great heart beats quick with vary joy - as from hill top to hill top echoes and reechoes the little words freighted with eloquence - Glory to God Richmond is ours - But before the curtain drops, before the excited loyal people express half the joy they fell - the murderous assassin leaps upon the stage - and brandishing the deadly steel - exclaims 'So let it be with tyrants' - The Nations honored head sinks upon his breast and dies - Ah! was there ever such a sudden transition from joy to grief. Truly God's providence are very mysterious..." VG.
