Autograph Letter Signed “Benjm Wingate”, 3 pages with address panel , quarto, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, November 30, 1848 to his father in Lexington, Iowa. 2nd Lt. Benjamin Wingate, 5th U.S. Infantry, wrote in part: “...you wish that I would give you the name of my capt and also the Cols anme Col George M Brook is the Col of this Regt though he has not bin in command of the Regt for a long while Brvt Lt ol Miles has had comd of the Regt since I have been in it Capt S Fowler is my capt and has just returned and taken comd of the camp in the last few days I am now busy in turning over the camp property and taking receipts i think I have wrote enough for one time...”. Light stains, else Fine condition.
