NIXON, Richard M. (1913 - 1994) Thirty-seventh President of the United States who led during the Vietnam War, re-opened diplomatic ties with China and the U.S.S.R.. Under Nixon the legal voting age was dropped from 21 to 18 with the ratification of the 26th Amendment. He resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal. The extreme importance of our recapturing control of the Assembly. I do not agree with those who calim we cannot gain at least eight seats in the legislature in 1960. 2. The absolute necessity of our brining more able, young people into our Party organization...their very presence tends to attract others of the same type. 3. The need for developing outstanding candidate material and strengthening the party organization. Every election, muncipal, state and Federal, should receive the full weight of our attention and activity. 4. The importance of developing a truly effective New Voter Program. This is an area to which the Republican Party has given far too little attention in the past.
