Autograph Letter Signed, 3p. quarto, Northampton, April 5, 1832, with integral leaf addressed to Mrs. Elerta Wilder in Brooklyn, and reads in part: “....We had an address last eveing from Mr. Boudinot the Cherokee and were much pleased with this plain unvarnished statement which was delivered with much simple dignity - and in many instances with striking touches of native eloquence - a collection was taken up - and I think about a hundred & forty dols. contributed - Their case is a very hard one...” VG. Elias Boudinot (1803-1839) Cherokee editor, born in Georgia but raised by missionaries in Connecticut, who was editor of the ‘Cherokee Phoenix’ newspaper, and helped translate several books of the New Testament into Cherokee.
