Autograph Letter Signed "I M Brown", 4 pages, quarto, March 8, 1854, Coritlo, Texas to "John", probably in Virginia. The letter reads in part: "...The contractors to build the San Antonio & Gulph R.R. have some two or three steam mills...but are doing nothing else yet on account of the difficulty of getting laborers. One of the company has gone north for the purpose of employing hands & they say they will complete the road in two years. It is believed that the road from Red River to El Paso will eventually be made...One of Edwin Morre's sons is living on the Brazos...he has not the slightest...of returning to Virginia...My corn is up & I commence to plant cotton tomorrow morning...". Fine condition.
