CODY, William F. "Buffalo Bill" (1846-1917). Frontiersman, entrepreneur, showman. Cody recognized the public's fascination with the American West and launched his renowned Wild West Show in 1883. Autograph Letter Signed, “Col.” 4p. quarto, two separate leaves, April 3, 1901, Hoffman House, New York, on his personal gold embossed stationary, with matching cover, the letter reads in part: “...my show opened last night - its the biggest best show I ever had - I had ten thousand people to see it last night - from today till Nov. 1st expect to give two performances a day - except sundays & have had to work hard to get ready - and will ahve to work hard for next seven months. Yes. I know you and Eli will have to work hard also, but you wont have to work nights. I work every night till twelve oclock....I think Eli should have a good man to look after the cattle - but not Jimmie Doyle - So that Eli can superintend at the ranch all the time...Mr. Martin wont be with you much of the time and Eli and you must keep things moving - I know you can run that ranch just as well as Myers - And I want you to show him that you can...” Much more. Fine.
