War-date Manuscript Document Signed by Fenn Wadsworth and John Chenward, authorizing John Lawrence, Treasurer of Connecticut to “Pay William Tryon Ten pounds ...and charge the State.” 1pp. quarto, Hartford, Connecticut, July 20, 1778. Fine condition. WADSWORTH, Fenn (1750-1785) During the American Revolution, he served as a brigade major to General James Wadsworth from September 28, 1776 until sometime in April, 1779. During that period, several of the regiments of the brigade saw extensive service, including the Battle of Long Island, the retreat from New York, Harlem Heights, White Plains, and the fall of Fort Washington. Due to failing health, Wadsworth was forced to leave the field, but he remained very active in state government
