Broadside, "DECKS OF A SLAVE SHIP," engraving shows top view of slave ship indicting the placement of over 400 slaves for the "middle passage," the journey from the west coast of Africa where the slaves were obtained, across the Atlantic where they were sold. The second diagram is a cutaway of the ship indicating four decks used for slaves. Scattered foxing, 9-3/4" x 6," tan & black, np., nd., circa 1840.
