Printed early Civil War era racist penny song sheet, 1p. 8vo., of song by John Allen, entitled: "Sambo, I Have Missed You." Published by Andrews, NYC and sold by merchant T. C. Boyd, San Francisco, ca. 1862. Lyrics, read, in small part: "Oh, Sambo, it is you…come down to see me now…your voice was like the night owl, siting on the tree…making mussy on my ear, like sticks on a drum. Oh, Sambo, I have missed you, I thought you'd never come…Oh, Sambo, I have loved you, but I fear it is in vain…Oh, Dina, I have wronged you…I have proved unkind…but the day is passed now…tomorrow we will go to church and there become one."
