A number of years ago the Horse Soldier, a Civil War Shop in Gettysburg, Pa., obtained the collection of Captain Henry L. Pasco which had been on display at a GAR post in Connecticut. Some of Pasco's collected relics were truly varied and outstanding. As you know the majority of soldiers were "trophy" collectors and wanted to send home examples of their travels when they were able. Captain Pasco mounted each of his relics on pieces of blue cardstock and wrote an ink description on the card. We were able to purchase a number of these relics and after enjoying them all these years, will now let other collectors enjoy them. A piece from the Confederate locomotive "The General", a 1 ½ inch large nut (taken from a bolt) that has been mounted on the blue cardstock. The ink of the period tag reads: "From the Confederate Locomotive "The General." Stolen at Big Shanty Georgia - April 1862 by Jas. J. Andrews and party. See Book Daring and Suffering by Wm. Pettinger." ... plus, A 1ST EDITION COPY OF THE BOOK PASCO MENTIONS. This book entitled, "Daring and Suffering: A History of The Great Railroad Adventure" was published in 1863. Together the relic and book make for a great display.
