(Clifford Berryman) UnsignedTwo Political Cartoons to include: Political Cartoon, 7-3/8" x 5-7/8" original pen, ink and pencil editorial cartoon on Bristol board. Depicts a portly gentleman representing the Hat Trust attempting to sell Mother Hubbard a new hat with the conspicuous price of $23. Trusts were an industrial combination for the control of manufacturing, transportation or commerce. Theodore Roosevelt initiated more than 40 legal proceedings against such monopolies. A few printer's notations, pin holes along edges, some light soiling, else very good condition. ... plus, 7-1/2 x 5-3/4-inch original pen, ink and pencil on Bristol board editorial cartoon on Bristol board, a couple of pencil printer's marks, tack holes in corners, else very good condition. Depicts a portly fruit vendor, representing the Fruit Trust, manning a pushcart and holding a balloon aloft labeled "prices." Mother Hubbard looks skyward aghast, her apron reading "Mrs. Ultimately Consumed."
