February 8, 1822, back page, $50 Reward,” Negro fellows and a White man who have been confined on counterfeiting charges .. The Negroes are runaways from SCX or Georgia ... plus, February 15, 1822, interior page, A Runaway Committed to Jail, “...a Negro man calling himself PRIMUS ... belongs to Jno. Williams who lives in SC or Ga ..about 24 years old ... yellow complexion ..says he escaped from his master in Johnston County ...” then, “Ran Away,” a Negro man by the name of HARDY .. he went off in old white fur hat, blue shambury coat ... I suspect he will be lurking about Raleigh ...” rough at spine. ... plus, October 18, 1822, Front page, “For Sale,” Likely Negro Girl ... apply Ross & Scott.” Then, “Notice,” Ran away ..Amos, a dark mulatto .. is supposed to be in pursuit of a negro trader as he has formed an attachment to one of his girls ....” Back page, “Five Cent Reward,” for Henry Wise..., then, “Ranaway,” Duke, ..very black and speaks quick ...” All good.
