A complete and authentic issue of the Gentleman’s Magazine (London), July 1752, 48pp., disbound, VG. From interior an illustrated 1/2 page report of Franklin and his latest electricity experiment, "A Cut and Description of a Machine, easily constructed, for making the Experiment by which Franklin's new Theory of Thunder is demonstrated.” The illustration is keyed, in small part “A person- standing on wax, it in contact with the wire,' will become electrified, and may kind'e spirits with his finger In like manner on Mr Franklin's principle, if a sharp spike be placed on the top of a mast with a wire conductor fastened from it to the shrouds, it will prevent the mast from splitting, and the ship from damage by lightening.” Then a hand colored engraving, printed on one side only, “The Red-Winged Starling; from Catesby.”
