A very nicely designed and quite ornate piece excavated on a Seneca Indian site in upstate New York (according to the consignor). What appears to be a turkey feather design is incorporated. A small "WD" mark can be seen on one of the loops, likely the mark of William DePeyster of New York (1733). Rare in this choice quality. c. 1750 American Engraved, Silver Shoe Buckle, by William DePeyster of New York, Choice Very Fine or better.
