Manuscript document, one page with docketing, quarto, May 25, 1665, Newbury, Massachusetts. A very early deed which begins in small part: "To all Christian people to whom this present writing shall come I John Kelly of Newbury in the county of Essex in Newengland to Sara my wife find greeting Know you that I John Kelly gave my wife for and in consideration of five and twenty pounds in hand...for an house lot...". Among the signatories is one "Elizabeth Mors(e)" who, in 1679, was tried for witchcraft. Although acquitted of her "crimes" by the Governor, Morse had been forced to endure imprisonment in Boston. A rare and well-preserved 17th century manuscript. Aging with light stains, else Fine condition.
