Newspaper, “The London Gazette” 2p. folio, September 20, 1666, with mention of “The Envoy from Algier being suddenly to take his leave, hath been presented with a present of 150 pistols, his Companion with 100, and his Son with 50, besides his Majesties Picture in a Case set with Diamonds valued at 3000 Crowns,...Mr Truder who has brought on this Treaty, is dispatcht for Algier, to take order for the buying of the Slaves that are there...” Also mentions the bubonic plague which the year before had killed over 100,000 people. Fine.
