A displayable chart is presented covering 20” x 11-1/2,” 3/4 of the page, “Aggregate amount of each description of persons in the United States and Their Territories, according to the Census ....” The chart shows 27 rows (states and territories); then 25 columns broadly divided by “Free White Males,” “Free White Females,” “Slaves,” and “Free Colored Persons.” It is interesting to note that Rhode Island recorded 48 slaves; Connecticut 48; New York over 9,000, New Jersey over 7000; Illinois 900 ...
