Manuscript Document signed by eighteen town residents, 8” x 10” 1 p., Worthington [Massachusetts], December 14, 1780. Moderate soiling at folds and margins, tiny holes at fold intersections, minor marginal chips, else very good. In part: ” We the Subscribers Inhabitants of the Town of Worthington do hereby Covenant and agree to pay the sums hereunto annexed to our names for the Revd. Mr. Huntington Support for the Current year in speshes (sic) or money the old way by the first Day of January Next…” All but one signature has an ”X”, most likely showing discharge of the debt. On the verso are four additional names that do not have an amount next to it.The Town of Worthington was incorporated in 1768. Reverend Jonathan Huntington (1684 - March 11, 1780) First Evangelical Pastor of the Church of Christ in Worthington who for several years usefully served his generation in the profession of a Physician, in the eleventh year of his ministry, passed away on March 11, 1780, age 48.
