A complete and authentic issue of the Gentleman’s Magazine (London), June 1752, 48pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, a fold-out engraving, printed on one side only, 8” x 14,” titled "The Grand State Procession of the New Doge of Venice." This engraving is of Piazza San Marco (often known in English as St Mark's Square), the principal public square of Venice. Doges of Venice were elected for life by the city-state's aristocracy. Commonly the person selected as Doge was one of the shrewdest elders in the city. The first Doge was elected in 697. Additionally, a hand colored engraving, printed on one side only, “The Painted Finch from Edwards Nat. Hist. of Birds.”
