Autograph letter signed "R. H. Harrison," Valley Forge (not stated), March 3, 1778, one page with verso panel addressed to "Col. Clement Biddle," reading, "His Excellency requests that you will transport the inclosed immediately thro the channel of the Stationary ____He would have sent it to Col. ____but apprehended he might not be acquainted with them." Lt. Colonel Robert H. Harrison was a Maryland jurist serving as one of George Washington's aide-de-camps at Valley Forge. He declined a presidential appointment to the newly formed Supreme Court in 1789 due to ill health and died the following year. Curiously, the paper used here is watermarked with a crowned cartouche showing the familiar seated figure of Britannia. Very good condition.
