Johnson (1780 - 1850) Ninth Vice President of the United States, serving from 1837 to 1841 under President Martin Van Buren, and the only Vice President to be elected by the U.S. Senate under the provisions of the Twelfth Amendment. Autograph Document Signed, "Rh. M. Johnson", in full "Gentlemen - I am requested to hand these ballots to one of you to present to the Senate expecting Sunday mails from Phila".
