A rare Civil War relic being a pair of fused minnie balls found in the Cornfield at Antietam. Fused bullets are very scarce and almost never appear in the marketplace. They are one of the most sought after of all projectile relics that show the intensity of Civil War fire power and of the furious fighting which occurred during that war's battles. These bullets are mounted to a card that is labeled: "Bullets Found Fused Together in The Cornfield." The Cornfield witnessed some of the heaviest fighting of the battle. It changed hands many times including when the troops mentioned in Capt. Speer's 60th Georgia letter were wounded. That letter is also offered in this sale and would make a great companion piece to the letter! Obtained from an defunct Antietam museum when it deaccessioned its holdings. VG
