War-date Confederate officer's letter, 3pp. 4to., written by Captain George Bouton, Yorktown, [Va.], Sept. 16, 1861, in part: "we are throwing up Breast Works & Mounting guns, receiving reinforcements from the South what plans are on foot I know notwe are to have hard fighting & plenty of it, let it comethe sooner it may be over for I am tired of waiting & they say a battle promotes the health of a camp". Turned into a stampless cover with "Yorktown, Va., Sept. 17, " Paid 5" post marks. Minor fold splits, else VG.
