Large "Boudoir" size (6 7/8" X 9 ") photograph, Theo C. Marceau, San Francisco photographer's front and back imprints. Moffett was an editor at Collier's weekly and the son of Pamela A. (Clemens) Moffett, Sister of Mark Twain. Moffett was swimming at Seabright when he entered the water, which had been extremely rough all day. With his wife watching he started to struggle and slipped below the surface. Life guards did try to save him, but to no avail. He was brought to shore and attended by two local New York doctors, but they could not save. All this in the presence of his wife. Besides working for Collier's Moffett was with the San Francisco Examiner and San Francisco Post and wrote several books.
