The Liberator, Boston, April 25, 1845, 4pp. disbound. Fascinating advertisement with headline, "Liberated Slaves: Employment Wanted." It continues, "Places wanted ... for the following women lately slaves in Louisiana; being a portion of those recently emancipated by John G. Palfrey ..." It then lists the slaves "Betsey, 31 years old having a son 5 years old; Maria, aged 23 having a daughter 3 years old; Margery, aged 21 having two infants; Rose agreed 13; Franrey aged 12 years." Palfrey was a "Conscience Whig" who opposed slavery, having freed sixteen slaves inherited from his father (his father and two brothers were successful Louisiana plantation owners). Rough at margins.The Liberator (1831-1865) was an abolitionist newspaper founded by William Lloyd Garrison in 1831. Garrison published weekly issues of The Liberator from Boston continuously for 35 years,
