War-date Confederate Autograph Letter Signed by the private secretary of Governor Bonham, of South Carolina, 1pp. quarto, Columbia, South Carolina, May 3, 1864, and reads in part: "...The Governor directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27 inst in relation to the map and to say in reply that he would be glad to have a copy made but has no control over the draftsman...Brig. Genl. Chesnut now in command of the Reserve forces of this state has the original map from which the one in this office was copied..." Fine condition.
