Nice war-date group of material pertaining to Clarence Mauck (1839-1881) who was commissioned in the 1st US Cavalry in March 1861, then transferred to the 4th US Cav. in August 1861. He rose to rank of captain by November 1863, WIA at Rome, Georgia in October 1864 and brevetted major for his contribution during the Atlanta campaign. This group includes: Enlistment form signed by Mauck as Recruiting Officer for Philip Woodward, of Pennsylvania, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, January 27, 1862. Good condition...plus; Quarterly Return for Ordnance and Ordnance stores signed by Lt. Mauck, March 31, 1862. Very good condition...plus; Quarterly Return signed by Mauck for December 31, 1861. Very good condition...plus; Special Orders No. 141, March 23, 1865, being an "Extract" revoking previous special orders pertaining to Mauck. Very good condition...plus; Clothing Invoice for Mauck, signed by Major L. Easton. Very good condition...plus; Special Field Orders No. 95, providing a leave of absence for Mauck, October 17, 1864, just a week after being wounded in Rome, Georgia, "for the reason of wounds received in action..." with nice RR circular stamp. Very good condition...plus; 1861 subsistence account signed by Lt. Mauck. Fine condition. (7 items)
