TRACY, Edward Dorr (1833-63), With the outbreak of the Civil War, he joined the 4th Alabama as a captain and was present at the Battle of First Manassas. In Oct. 1861, he was appointed a lieutenant colonel is the 19th Alabama and served at the Battle of Shiloh and in the defense of eastern Tennessee. In Aug. 1862, Tracy was promoted to brigadier general. Tracy was killed May 1, 1863 at the Battle of Port Gibson, Miss.Twice signed cover, "E.D. Tracy, Lieut. Col. 19th Reg. Ala." on golden paper with circular cancellation, Mobile ALA, December 10, 1863. Then, it is addressed in Tracy hand to Mrs. "E.D. Tracy" in essence, a second signature.
