A lengthy D.S. 4pp. legal folio, Jefferson County, Mississippi, February 1864, providing a comprehensive list of volunteer soldiers serving from that county with the intent of providing financial relief to their respective families, listing the wife and number of children of each soldier, and the amount of relief money the soldier's families were entitled to. The wives and other beneficiaries of the soldiers were all listed under the husband's names, i.e., "Mrs. James Chapman, Mrs. Elisha Norton", readily identifying the soldiers serving at that time. Over 80 soldier's names are listed, with all but a few listed with first and last names, and many with middle initial. An unusual document, VG to Fine.
