Auguste Amant Constant Fidèle Edouart (1789–1861) was a French-born portrait artist who worked in England, Scotland and the United States in the 19th century. He specialized in silhouette portraits.Thomas Wentworth Higginson (1823-1911) was an American Unitarian minister, author, abolitionist, and soldier. He was active in the American Abolitionism movement during the 1840s and 1850s, identifying himself with disunion and militant abolitionism.Charles Chapman Grafton (1830 -1912) was the second Bishop of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.Two Edourt Silhouttes matted together, each 8” tall, clasping hands, with a legend “T. Higginson, C. Grafton Jr., Boston 25th April 1842.” The backer has been cutout exposing identification of each of the silhouettes.
