A Union soldier’s letter written by “W(illiam).A. Robeninson”, who enlisted on 9/16/1861 at Delhi, NY as a Corporal into "I" Co. NY 89th Infantry, 4pp., to his wife, Camp Near Fredericksburg, Dec. 20, 1862 with original cover which is headed “Battle of Fredericksburg” and sent to Delaware Co., New York. In part, “I suppose you have heard of the battle before this time ... took part in it and lost some men we have one missing, lost in the last charge after dark Saturday night. Cormack(sp) was shot with a spent ball in the leg but not hurt much. David Thomas hit on the belt plate on Thursday in crossing the river. The 89 crossed in boats and took the city without losing a man after fighting all day to get the panton bridge ...”
