War-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 4to., written, on rare printed Co. I, 130th New York (crossed out and modified to 19th N. Y. C) roster stationery, by Pvt. Robert Henry Greenfield, Co. I, 19th New York Cav., "Camp near Manassas Junction, [Va.], Sept. 1, 1863, to his wife, in part: "…the 136th N. Y. Regt is here within a half [mile] of us. I have been over to see my cousin James Slait [Stale, DOD 2/23/64]. It is the first time that I have seen him in two years. He has just returned from the hospital…Lieutenant [Rueben R.] Weed [104th New York. Reported missing July 1, 1863] has been dismissed from the service…for taking a parole when he was a prisoner. He would not go back to his company and so he was discharged. Henry Weed feels very bad about it. He said that RR tried to get a pass to come up to Manassas to see him but he could not…so he is coming home again…Robert H. Greenfield…direct your letters…19th N. Y. Cavalry, Troop I in care of Cap. Lemen." VG.
