A good war-date 1864 "proxy" vote letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Farmer's National Bank President Isaac Eckert, Reading, [PA], Oct. 5, 1864, to a certain "Geo.", in part: "I herewith send your right to vote. Our object is to give as many vote[s] to Heister [?] for congress as possible and so, as far as we can, all the rest on the ticket. Your reading the law answer to the "proxy" on way of voting in your home district…send it back to me in time to vote…Red is called to Columbus, Ohio by Genl. Focken. He left yesterday and also left his vote to be handed in…Isaac Eckert…". VG.
