Autograph Letter Signed by Charles B. Clampton, 3pp. folio, Chattanooga, Tennessee, July 22, 1865, addressed to William Limeburg, and reads in part: "...You say you want a revolver if I can get one. As for that I can get dozens of them I had one, a splendid one I got it off the Rebel Cavalry that came in to this place. I bought it off a Rebel Captain for eight dollars and sold it for 32 dollars...it is very difficult to get a permit to ship a thing like that but if I can do no better I will write the permit myself...I don't know whether I will come home or not. I can get a good situation at Macon, Georgia...Capt. E. Hade is discharging almost all of the white men. And hiring niggers. A nigger first a mule next. And then the white men…" Fine.
