ALFONSO II (1448-1495) King of Naples (ruled from 1494-95) Son of Ferdinand I of Naples. After a year he abdicated in favor of his son Ferdinand II when threatened by the invading French and Charles VIII. Letter Signed as King, 1p. folio, August 12, 1494, to Lorenzo, in Rome, thanking him for his support. With paper seal. Fine. Items signed by monarchs in the fourteen hundreds are rare, and anything of Alfonso II is particularly so, as his brief two year rule ended in 1495 which was the same year he died.
