Lot of 3 letters written by Moses Brown, noted Newburyport businessman. Manuscript letter, one page, octavo, September 18, 1792, Newburyport, Massachusetts. An unsigned letter to a Captain"Pickket". It reads in small part as follows: "...Sir I reced your Lynes by the Pilot and have rote Mr. Hogthorn that you would right to him to know what Capn he had in his hands & desire him to give you Liberty to draw for the exact proceeds...". Fine condition...Plus; Manuscript letter, one page, quarto, August 15, 1798, Newburyport, Massachusetts. An unsigned letter to "Capt Elizah Mayhue". It reads in small part: "...you being Master of the Brigantine Columbia now ready for the Seas your orders are to...proceade to Sea and direct your cargo for trinidad and there Sell your cargo & take such procedure as apear to be likely to afford the next packet home...". Heavy water stains, else VG condition...Plus; Autograph Letter Signed "Moses Brown", one page, ocatvo, March 7, 1800, Newburyport, Massachusetts to a "Mr. Knap". It reads in part: "...I have no desire to live in Enmity with any of my neighbors and if you will be so kind as to call & see me...I can satisfy you that you have no reason for righting such a letter...". Fine condition.
