Manuscript Letter, one page on 4 pages, quarto, October 18, 1863, Chicago, Illinois to The New York City Chamber of Commerce. Penned on the stationery of the Chicago Sanitary Commission Rooms, this letter announces a North Western Fair to be held for the benefit of "our battling soldiery". A 4 page imprint describing the fair in detail is affixed to the 3rd panel of this letter. VF condition...Plus; 2 Autograph Letters Signed "Harriet Hubbard Ayer", each one page, octavo, 1883, New York City to a Mr. McColl. Harriet Ayer, a matron of Chicago society, was also a businesswoman and journalist. She was also the subject of an 1881 portrait by celebrated American painter, Eastman Johnson. These letters are short business letters. VF condition.
