Private John Scott Carte de Visite, circa 1885. 2.5" x 4". A studio bust portrait of Texas Ranger Private John Scott who served in Company "C," Frontier Battalion, under Captain George H. Schmitt. Around the time that this portrait was taken, Company "C" was stationed in south Texas, primarily policing small towns and working to quell the unrest that surrounded the "Fence Cutting Wars" plaguing Texas at the time. In November of 1888 the company disbanded because of budget cuts. Signed on recto, "Mr. John Scott." A previous collector has written his name on the verso in modern ink. Light traces of foxing on recto and verso.
