"General Horry furnished the facts, Parson Weems the rhetoric; so much of it that Horry became indignant and disclaimed all connection with the book. Unabashed, Weems continued its publication through many editions" - Howes. Marion was a hero of the Revolution, and it was largely due to his actions and strategy that the turning point came in the South. Horry was his most trusted officer; his biography of Marion helped to establish the general as the legendary "Swamp Fox."
