Small-ish 4 ½" smokes with an early 20th century hang tag reading "A Novelty of the Civil War (made in 1860)/ These cigars were manufactured by Reuben Keinert, deceased, of Sieholtzville, Hereford Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania in the year 1860. At the outbreak of the Civil War, when a Revenue Tax was put on tobacco to defray the expenses of war, he had 40,000 old cigars in stock and refused to have them stamped and pay revenue, but were stamped by the Internal Revenue collector August 16th and 17th, 1906. These cigars possess their original flavor. He was a veteran cigar manufacturer for fifteen years. He was born June 6th 1832, and died October 19th, 1905."
